I'm a professional software engineer / tech lead from one of the top-tier software companies based on the west coast. Like all other top-tier companies, we are always looking for talent. Interviewing is part of my weekly job. I have interviewed over 500 software engineer candidates from top software companies such as Amazon, Google, Facebook, and Microsoft.
Unlike other industries, the software industry has its unique interview process. In software engineer interviews, we typically ask coding questions involving algorithms and data structure. Questions can be as easy as sorting an array, or as hard as dynamic programming.
Interviews are hard. You could spend 2 months preparing for coding questions and still fail your first phone interview. Many candidates perform badly in interviews because they never had the chance to practice writing code on a whiteboard with an interviewer. That's why you need mock interviews.
I will:
- Set up a 60 mins phone interview with you. We will be writing code on the most common collaborative editor tools online.
- Provide a list of interview tips.
- Design a 3-6 months interview preparation plan based on your situation
